Aquarius self-contained cat or dog water bottles, by Donna Norris, CFA Judge & Cat Exhibitor
It's very common, at least in Italy, to see bottles of water near walls in sidewalk and I've been told it's because it prevents dogs and cats from peeing on the wall. Is this actually the case and why wouldn't a dog/cat pee on it?
For me, though, at the end of the day, water bottles are kind of boring. Iâm still hanging on a cliff to hear about the cat-on-leash proposal.

While Ian Tunnicliffe didn't post any instructions, it would be pretty easy to throw together a similar design with a dowel, some plastic water bottles, and something to hold the dowel securely. If you put something together like this, let us know! And we think your cat could master as well as this cute Westie! Many cat owners are providing water to their cats in the form of a water bottle. A self-contained water bottle holder which allows your cat to simply lick the tube to get water. Its easy to travel with and keep filled with fresh and clean water. No more messy spills or soggy food morsols floating around in a water dish. It's an old country Italian trick where you fill glass bottles with water then place them around your garden. Why does it work? The water filled bottles shimmer in the sunlight. This shimmer is something which does not exist in nature and the cat doesn't understand it or like it, so the cat leaves right away. In this Instructable, I will show you how to train your kitten or cat to drink from a water bottle vs. drinking from a bowl. I came up with this idea a few months ago when I had a few kittens. It seemed like every time I'd fill their drink bowl with water, they always wanted to play in it. So I bought a big water bottle that you would use for caged pets. This is how I built it...Shortly after we posted this tip we heard from a long time friend of Cat Faeries who is an Italian countess. She wrote to tell us that you see water filled wine bottles in gardens all over Italy. Many are near or under key plants. If the plants are particularly precious you might see several bottles grouped together. Thank you Contessa dearest for adding this for us!Good Point!! My first cat that I trained, I watched very closely for the first few days. When I seen her around the bottle I would squeeze the bottle so a little water would drip into the bowl, making sure she is watching me. My other cats kinda watched my first cat and they caught on rather quickly. Curiosity is what made me think of this idea.
