Purina ONE Cat Food review and analysis to help you choose if Purina ONE is best for your cat
On July 1st, 2012, my kitten suddenly had a seizure and then collapsed onto the floor, screaming and defecating. After that he was incredibly lethargic and then the next day July 2nd, he was lying on the floor, barely breathing. We took him to the vet and he died on the car ride there. He was only 3 months old and they had no idea how he died when they took him into the surgery room. I was feeding him Purina Kitten Chow. I never thought about it until reading these reviews that Purina's food could've killed him. RIP Poog

Purina Pro Plan Cat Food Review - KittyCatter
In terms of the production and manufacture of their products, Purina works with regional venders, often sourcing their ingredients from growers in the same region as their plants. The website suggests that Purina puts their vendors through a rigorous review process to ensure quality of the ingredients. Though Purina is headquartered in St. Louis, it has operations all over the globe. According to the Purina website, 99% of Purina cat food products are produced in the United States, though the website does not provide many details about the company’s production facilities. On various Purina brand websites (such as Purina ONE), the company claims that its products are only produced in company-owned facilities but it does not state where they are located. The fact that Purina is the second-largest global pet food producer suggests that even the 1% of products that are not produced in the U.S. could still be a very significant number.Though many of are made with low-quality ingredients and fillers, the Beyond brand seems to be a decent product. Marketed as a natural cat food, the Beyond line of cat foods is made with “real, recognizable ingredients you know and trust, plus essential nutrients”. These products are made with real fish or poultry as the number-1 ingredient with no poultry by-product meals and no corn, wheat, or soy ingredients. This product line is also free from added colors, flavors, and artificial preservatives. A review of several Purina Beyond dry cat food recipes reveals that these claims are true, but the fact remains that the Beyond brand is unique among Purina products in terms of quality.I've researched the other Purina products mentioned in these reviews and will clearly avoid them as well. I suggest to other consumers of Purina products to evaluate the dry and wet cat food selections from Fromm. You'll be pleased to see the label and analysis of the products' ingredients (I am not now or ever have been an employee of the Fromm company). I am simply a retired pet owner who is one of many who spend significant dollars on the care and feeding of my beloved companion animal. As for the cat food supply, it will be going in the trash. I wouldn't want to pass this condition on to the local animal shelter. Thank you for your attention. Purina/Nestle, wake up.The Purina One brand markets itself as a natural pet food brand that uses high-quality ingredients in all of their recipes. The brand website suggests that Purina One products are made with, “100% nutrition, zero fillers and real meat rich protein”. All it takes is a quick review of the ingredients list for several Purina One products, however, to reveal that this is not entirely true. Most of Purina One’s cat food products do appear to start with a real meat protein like chicken or salmon as the first ingredient but, for many recipes, that is the only ingredient that offers any real quality nutrition. Purina One’s cat food products are not only very carb-heavy, but very heavy in plant-based ingredients and byproducts as well. Many Purina One products make heavy use of corn, wheat, and soy ingredients as well as artificial colors and flavors. They are also very reliant on synthetic supplements, possibly because a significant portion of the nutritional integrity for the raw ingredients is destroyed during cooking. All in all, Purina One cat food can be said to offer low- to moderate-quality nutrition at best and, in general, it is not one of the highest quality brands of pet food you will come across.
