Lantus prices squeeze veterinarians and owners of diabetic cats - VIN
I thought it would be fun to show the prices of the Ragdoll cats my family has purchased:
Cats, cats, and more cats. The reports that one-third of American households own at least one furry feline and more than half of these cat masters care for two. That's a lot of food over kitty's lifetime -- up to 17 years and counting for some indoor cats. And while pampering your pet may provide great pleasure, there's no need to serve up high-priced delicacies. The best cheap cat food, whether wet or dry, is both healthy and satisfying.
We researched cheap canned (a.k.a., wet) cat food and cheap dry (a.k.a. kibble) cat food to find the best of each for the average cat. In the canned cat food column we put Trader Joe's Premium (starting at 69 cents/5.5-ounce can) in first place for its quality ingredients, followed by Friskies Meaty Bits (starting at $11/24-pack 5.5-ounce cans) for the their bargain price and popularity with consumers (that would the cats). In the dry cat food column, Purina One Smartblend Adult Variety (starting at $27/16 pounds) earns top billing for relatively high protein content and low price while Taste of the Wild Feline Formula (starting at $28.50/15 pounds) comes in second for its perceived health benefits and feeding efficiency (owners say a little goes a long way). Two cheap cat foods that just don't rank are Special Kitty Premium (starting at $10.18/24-pack 5.5-ounce cans), Walmart's in-house brand, and Friskies Dry (starting at $13.50/16 pounds), both of which sink on the ingredients test.

That’s right: Take your pick of any of our wonderful cats and kittens and tell us what you’re willing to pay! It's a small price to pay to know that your cat has been checked out AND to help keep a shelter in business. Indeed it is a small price. None of the kittens on Craigslist had been tested. None had shots or had ever seen a vet. You don't know what you're bringing home. One home we went to was literally crawling away with fleas. The kittens, medium haired orange boys, were covered with them. We left there as fast as we could and I later sent her an email explaining how to clean up the mess as diplomatically as possible. She emailed me back that most of the kittens had died since I was there. She claimed she couldn't afford to spay the mother cats, not even at our low-cost spay clinic. I was depressed for the rest of the day. Tears come to my eyes just remembering and writing this. They were so cute but so pale and so emaciated and so covered in fleas. We left our clothes in the garage when we got home that night. We sprayed each other with DeepWoods-Off before entering the house. We sprayed the car with DW-Off and left the windows open. We took hot showers. We so feared a flea invasion knowing we were going to get some kittens. Some cats are more rare and more beautiful than others. The combination of rarity and beauty has brought about unbelievable prices for this animal. Here is a list of the top five most expensive cats in the world today. What’s the cost of putting a cat to sleep? Well, the cost to put cats to sleep depends on the size of the cat and the location of your veterinarian. Larger cats may cost more to put to sleep than smaller cats, and the cost of living in your area will affect the price of euthanasia. In general, the procedure costs somewhere between $45 and $150.
