Went on line and researched premium canned cat foods And was impressed with the reviews for Natures Variety Instinct..so I decided to try it
So my kitten has been on several types of food since we got him from his foster mom Labor day weekend. He was such a tiny kitten for 10 weeks (wasn’t nursed for too long). She was feeding him Friskies which I knew was a low quality food. I didn’t have time (since it was a quick decision) to go shopping for kitten supplies, my fiance went. He never grew up with or raised a kitten before, so picked up Blue Buffalo thinking that it was the best. I did my research the day after we brought home Peaches and I discovered so many health problems reading reviews from owners who feed their pets BB. The next take I returned the BB and switched him to Nature’s Variety Instinct chicken kibble. He grew so fast, and he’s a really strong muscular cat with a trim waist. He has lots of energy and his poops have gotten so much cleaner since the switch in foods. His coat is soft, smooth and shiny, his eyes are clear and no allergies. He’s intelligent, learns fast and is a friendly cat.
This is actually the first cat food review that I have ever done, but I thought it was important that I do it !!
My cat is not finicky at ALL when it comes to dry food. I have fed her seven or eight different types of natural and organic dry foods in the past few years, and she ate them ALL.
I am gradually changing her diet to a high protein, low carb diet so that she can lose a little weight, and I started her on Innova Evo.
(She LOVES the Evo !!)
I saw that Nature's Variety Instinct was also a very high protein, low carb dry food, so I purchased some of that to give her some variety.
Well......the Instinct dry food is the first dry food I have bought that she will not eat !!
When I first opened the bag and set some out, she tried a couple bites, and apparently decided that she did NOT like it !!
She would never eat ANY of it after that.
I would put the food in front of her, and she would just turn her head and walk away !!
Just wanted to let everyone know what my experience with this food was, because my NON-finicky cat did NOT like it !!
I researched freeze dried raw and Primal looked to be a good choice. So I thought to switch her to it and bought a small bag to mix with her Instinct dry kibble slowly. She really loves it, but I am wondering if I should try Nature’s Variety Instinct freeze-dried first before switching her to Primal. Because Nature’s Variety is designed for rotation feeding, so that means I could put her on freeze-dried raw right away without having to gradually transition. However, my concern is that the review here states for supplemental feeding only, while Instinct website says it can be main meal or a mixer.
I trust Dog Food Advisor reviews greatly and therefore hesitating about this food until I get some clarification.I really appreciate your web site. I need all the help I can get
my cat is having a lot of trouble with her food. She has food allergies and isn’t responding to any food I try. Today I bought her Nature’s Variety Instinct. I pray it works. Expensive though but worth it if she starts to feel better.
You have given me knowledge on what is important in cat food and I really needed this help.
Thank you so much for your input and your reviews.
