Citywide cat adoption services are up and running again following a temporary suspension in response to a bird flu scare last month, the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene announced Wednesday.

All of our cat adoption partners are locally-owned small businesses. Cats from our shelter are cared for at each neighborhood business until they are adopted.Adopting a companion animal from the SPCA of Westchester is one of the most compassionate and rewarding things you will ever do. Through no fault of their own, healthy, affectionate cats and dogs are surrendered by their families due to financial hardship, relocation, eviction, lack of time on the part of family members to care for them and lack of interest in them when they age. Kitty Corner houses most of our adult, senior & special needs cats (sometimes kittens, too), while unweaned kittens and adults needing quiet environments are spoiled in volunteer foster homes. To learn more about our different adoption programs, please .The Cat Adoption Service is a no-kill, completely volunteer run organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of homeless cats and kittens.KHS officials estimate that in 20 years our customers have adopted more than 40,000 dogs and cats at our stores, helping KHS save lives. Every week this year, more than 60 dogs and cats will go to a new home from one of the centers.
