CAT uses variable adoption pricing. The adoption fee for each cat is dependent on many factors including age, behavior, medical condition, and demand.
Included in the adoption fee: Spay or neuter surgery Medical examination Age-appropriate vaccinations Flea treatment and deworming FIV/FeLV testing Microchip and registration fee Any additional treatment needed while in our care Post-adoption medical exam from a participating veterinary clinic Sample bag of Purina Pro Plan food Cat/Kitten Care Handbook and post-adoption support
The Cat Adoption Team requires all potential adoptive families to meet with a trained adoption counselor before adopting a cat. If you plan on adopting a cat the same day, please plan to visit the adoption center at least 1-2 hours prior to closing (adoptions end 30 minutes before close). Families must complete an application and sign a contract, which outlines our organization's adoption guidelines. Individuals who are interested in adopting a cat or kitten are welcome to call our facility to discuss these guidelines before visiting our adoption center.

At Colony Cats Adoption Center, the "pawsitives" of volunteering abound - literally! As a helper at our cageless center, you will be entertained by the playful antics of our cat adoptees - they're up, down and all around! Pitch in with other animal lovers to keep the center tidy and care for the cats. Hours are flexible to your schedule.Groups like these have high standards for who gets to adopt. Applicants are sometimes subjected to an interrogation . After receiving this hostile treatment, several would-be pet owners told me, they got offended and gave up. Others push on, (“As a dog ages, it often becomes incontinent and arthritic. How do you intend to handle your dog's age-related problems?”), supplying personal and veterinary references, and submitting to home inspections. Even after going through that ordeal, you can be told that you are unworthy for pet ownership, for reasons often left mysterious. At this point, many frustrated animal lovers can commit an act they’d previously thought abhorrent: They buy a dog, cat, bird, or guinea pig from a pet store or breeder. I know because that’s what happened to me.Before this, enormous numbers of animals who went into shelters never came out. More than 40 years ago, an average of 20 million dogs and cats were euthanized annually. Humane organizations started a campaign to spay and neuter pets, especially those coming through shelters, and today —still terrible, but a vast improvement. In addition to pet sterilization, an effort also began to find accommodations for homeless animals outside the municipal and private shelter systems, which have limited room and often short deadlines for keeping animals before moving them to death row. The new organizations take potentially adoptable pets out of the shelters and foster them, usually in private homes, until the right owner comes along. They control the fate of an increasing number of animals. In New York City, for example, almost 45 percent of the dogs and cats that come into are passed to one of more than 150 private rescue groups.Cat Connection works only with rescue and adoption agencies to help place homeless cats and kittens. You can visit our store Monday through Saturday to see available cats for adoption. You must fill out an application and submit it to the appropriate adopting agency for approval.
