Caterpillar announced it will move manufacturing jobs from its facility near Aurora to Decatur.
Aurora is Blue Bicolor Ragdoll kitty who was named after the princess in Sleeping Beauty, and as you can see, her family consider her to be true royalty. “Cats are known for being the rulers of the house and Aurora takes that to the next level. She knows she is beautiful, at least that’s what her manners imply. It’s her way or no way basically,” say her humans, Emily and Niklas.
"Talking to my friends in Aurora, I'd say get all the right people around a table immediately and get a task force going," said Kyle Ham, CEO of the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council, who was on the Mitsubishi task force. "And it would definitely be an advantage having Cat work with them."
Meet Aurora, the most beautiful and fluffiest princess cat ever.
Meet Aurora, The Fluffy Cat Princess - We Love Cats and Kittens
Cats are natural royalties that have been adored by us humans throughout history. Princess Aurora takes that to the next level. If you're familiar with pets on Instagram you might have come across what probably is the most royal cat in the world - Princess Aurora (@aurorapurr).With the recent decision to shutter its sprawling manufacturing plant near the city of Aurora, Caterpillar is foisting a huge economic development challenge onto a region that has long depended on the factory to provide jobs and vital commerce.Meet Aurora. She is the most popular princess kitty….probably in the entire world. She is known to be “photogenic cat royalty”. She is over 140,000 followers on Instagram alone! She is named after Disney’s original princess, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Her wardrobe is to die for! From amazing tutus, to stunning crowns and tiaras, the options are endless and they are magnificent. What will she come up with next? The world anxiously awaits her next Instagram pic….Overall, the company has too much global manufacturing capacity and needs to cut production and labor costs if it wants a shot at sustainable profitability. Cat is sending 500 Aurora-area plant jobs to Decatur and about 150 positions to North Little Rock, Ark.By the end of 2018, Cat will shuffle production from the plant to other U.S. facilities — resulting in a loss of 800 hourly wage jobs. Cat intends to keep 1,200 engineering and support positions in the Aurora area but not necessarily at the current facility.Despite retaining a large Peoria workforce, leaving its longtime hometown stings many in that community. Completely backing away from the Aurora facility, which is already losing 800 good-paying jobs, isn't going to improve Cat's image.
