Dogs & Cats for Adoption - Orange County Humane Society
At the time of adoption, all cats will be Orange County Animal Services Center
One way to find the best home for a pet is through screening. Before you can be considered to adopt a pet from SBACC, you need to fill out an adoption application with questions about how (and low long) you are willing to take care of the pet. It may seem like a hassle, but the reason so many pets end up in shelters is because they’re abandoned. The staff at the shelter just wants to ensure that the animal won’t end up abandoned again. SBACC partners with other shelters in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego Counties to try to find the best home available for each of its pets.
Our pets are available for adoption and met in the caregivers home. The Animal Network of Orange County promotes dogs and cats for adoption. Many of the caregivers are "Good Samaritans" who rescued the animals or are responsible pet owners who need to find new homes and want to avoid the uncertainty of the municipal shelter system. Why adopt a kitten from Community Animal Network? All the rescue organizations rescue their kittens from the same places, but well-socialized kittens are not easy to come by. Our kittens are raised by people that have the time to handle and love them. We specialize in pet-quality cats and kittens. A pet-quality cat has had positive experiences with humans and has felt loved. Many of our kittens like to be carried and held and would make great family members. Kittens that have not been well-socialized or handled a lot avoid people, hide and are often described as independent and aloof. Why do we promote our kittens in pairs? Most often people adopt single kittens and unknowingly raise hoodlums. All young animals need a playmate. They learn social skills through play-fighting. Kittens need an equal energy playmate to interact with. Just like kids picking friends, they pick someone who likes to do the same things. Biting and attacking ankles may be cute when a kitten is small, but a full grown cat can bite hard. Behaviors that the public dislike are created by not making the best choice for the animals. Adopting a pair of young animals that have the same energy level that were well-socialized is the best choice. See A Current List Of Available Animals BEFORE YOU E-MAIL (DON'T CALL)! There may be new arrivals of cats and kittens that may not be pictured on the national web sites. Or the animal you are interested could have been adopted. Your are welcome to email to find out more information about animals that may be right for you.
